All the wines I review are purchased by me and given a total 'bang for your buck' score out of 20 points.
Point are awarded based on balance, length, complexity, finish, sight and typicity.
Balance out of 3 points. Does any aspect of the wine dominate- alcohol, acid, weight. 0 points would be a disjointed wine and 3 points being harmoniously balanced.
Length out of 5 points. After you swallow how long does the flavor stay with you. 0 points for short finish to 5 for long lingering.
Complexity out of 5 points. 0 points for a one dimensional wine to 5 points for a wine with a lot going on, many flavor and aroma descriptors.
Finish out of 2 points. 0 points for an astringent finish to 2 points for a smooth finish.
Sight out of 2 points. 0 points for a wine that is dull to 2 points for a wine that is clear and bright,
Typicity out of 3 points. 0 points for a wine that lacks varietal/regional characteristic to 3 points for a wine that is recognizable for the varietal/region but of better than average quality.
